“Subaru Rally Team Canada drives home another victory, finishing the season on top in the Manufacturer’s, Driver’s and Co-Driver’s titles”

Team Vision X’s Subaru Rally Team Canada wins Championship at Big White Winter Rally:

Subaru Canada and Rocket Rally Racing are pleased to announce that Subaru Rally Team Canada (SRTC) driver Antoine L’Estage and co-driver Darren Garrod have won the 2016 Driver’s and Co-Driver’s Championships, securing the titles at the Big White Winter Rally in Kelowna, BC this past weekend. L’Estage claimed his 9th Canadian Rally Championship (CRC) Driver’s title in impressive fashion, tackling notoriously wintery conditions to lead the rest of the pack by a margin of over 10 minutes.

“Winning the Big White Rally the first time as a national event is a really good feeling,” said L’Estage. “We are really happy to have won the championship title for Subaru at the last event, and now for Darren and I to clinch the driver and co-driver titles here.”

“It’s been a good season with great support from Subaru, and the Rocket Rally team.”

The Big White Rally also marked a highly successful weekend for the entire Rocket Rally Racing team. Rocket Rally entered the event with 5 cars – SRTC with Antoine at the helm; two in-house developed 2016 Open Class Subaru Crosstrek’s (driven by Brandon Semenuk and David Nickel), a customer R2 Ford Fiesta piloted by Jason Bailey and Ken Stanick competing in Regional Novice in a Rocket Rally prepared Open-Class MY08 STI.

Of note was Semenuk’s (above) 4th place finish in only the second outing in his Rocket Rally Crosstrek. Nickel’s performance throughout the weekend was excellent as well, running a consistent 5th overall in his Rocket Rally Crosstrek until an unfortunate off in the 3rd and final leg prevented him from finishing the rally.

Lastly, and equally exciting was Jason Bailey’s results in his Rocket Rally supported R2 Fiesta. In 2WD, Bailey came into Big White as the 2016 Canadian Champion. With his 2WD win at Big White, Bailey cinched the North American Rally Cup championship.

Championship winners will be awarded trophies at a gala event in Halifax next month. The 2017 season begins shortly after, at the Rallye Perce Neige in Maniwaki, Quebec in February.
