Overlanding, there’s many definitions to what it means to overland, but we appreciate this simple version from the guys at Overland Bound. “Overlanding is vehicle dependent travel.”   Making our second stop to the Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, this definition couldn’t be more fitting from what we saw there. From two-wheeled motorcycles equipped with side-hacks, the rise of the Toyota Tacoma to humongous Freightliner converted rigs for long term adventures. This event truly had it all to go off-grid.

We had the opportunity to have the Sea to SEMA (@rs_overland) Toyota Landcruiser FJ60 in our booth this year. Iconic in the off-road world, this RSO Performance built FJ features a 5.7L Chevrolet V-8 powerplant, 37” Falken Tires, custom RSO bumpers and a host of camping amenities like the new RSO T-RAX Roof Rack with HITents rooftop tents, awning and annex. To make the night bright, Tyler has equipped the custom bumper with a 30” Xmitter Prime LED Light Bar, Optimus LED Fog Lights, while the T-RAX roof rack features the 2.75” Dura Mini for 360° of camp lighting.

In addition to the sweet FJ60 in our booth, we powered our our complete lighting display set-up for three days with solar energy. Yep that’s right. Wally at P3 Solar was kind enough to plug us into his solar grid keeping us gasoline-generator free.  The other great part of using solar was that his battery set-up stored power well into the night allowing us to shine our 50 Watt LED Light Cannons down vendor row.  Thanks Wally!

In between educating show-goers about our complete line of LED Lighting products for the Overland market, we were able to walk the show and checkout some of the cool stuff.

We came across our good friends of Team 5 Foundation, and their fully equipped supercharged Toyota Tundra. This truck features so much light we are confident that when the “QRF” is deployed on a mission, the night duties will be easy work. Our 30” combo color LED Light Bars (Xmitter Prime Xtreme) featuring White and Amber LEDs are becoming a popular lighting option, while the Dura 6 LED lights provide outstanding lighting for camp illumination.

We also came across this epic Global Expedition Vehicle utilizing our 7” VX Series LED Headlights. These headlights are making a name for themselves as one of the best 7″ LED Headlights out there.

Our friends at AEV American Expedition Vehicles showcased this brute of a Dodge Ram, the Prospector XL. This build is featured as one of ten that will be built for the public. Many of the AEV Rams feature our Xmitter Prime LED Light Bar on the bad a$$ bumpers.   Check out the quick walk around video.

We came across our friend Wes Yancy of Undercover Sportsman.  He was showcasing a cool new product they are offering for pick-up truck owners but of course we had to stop and checkout the 40″ XPR Led Bar tucked nicely into the Toyota Tundra N-Fab Bumper. If you ask Wes, his LED Light Bar set-up is one of the best investments he’s made into his truck, to allow him to see in the dark early mornings, when he goes on hunt and fishing trips.

One of our long time dealers and Team Vision X racers, Tony and Jami Pellegrino made the trek from Simi Valley, California to showcase their Jeep specific products from Genright Off-Road.  In addition to their all-Aluminum bumpers, they had a very cool dual battery set-up by Genesis Off-Road.  Their overland ready Jeep JK featuring VX Series LED headlights shown above.

Roambuilt had a fully equipped Mercedes Sprinter van with a host of lights. They put the 8.7″ LED Light Cannons up top with Yellow covers to blast throw fog and dust.

While we didn’t see too many Ford Raptors at the Overland Expo, we did catch this bad boy with our XPR-9 LED Bar tucked nicely behind the skid plate of this SDHQ bumper. The camp set-up with RTT (Roof Top Tent) coupled with big horsepower and fourwheel drive really leaves us to wonder what exciting adventures this set-up could take you.

An avid outdoorsman and upland game bird hunter, Joe Hosmer stopped by our booth to share his excitement for his LED Lighting set-up on his Sportsmobile E-350 Van.  This Sportsmobile has no shortage of lighting with the use of six 6.7″ 50watt LED Light Cannons.

Here’s some more Sportsmobile Van Conversions we saw at Overland Expo, including the Mercedes Sprinter.  Off grid camping is getting really comfortable.
